About PDFSplitOrMerge
We engineered a fast, reliable, and privacy-respecting PDF utility designed to eliminate unnecessary cloud file uploads, deceptive subscription traps, and cluttered interfaces.
1. Why We Built PDFSplitOrMerge
Every day, millions of people need to combine bank statements for an accountant, extract specific invoice pages for an expense report, or reorder contracts for signing. Yet the majority of web tools available today require you to upload confidential documents to remote servers located halfway around the world.
Once uploaded, users often encounter arbitrary queues, intrusive banner advertisements, artificial countdown timers, and surprise paywalls demanding monthly subscriptions just to download their own files. PDFSplitOrMerge was built to prove that everyday document utilities can be fast, private, honest, and accessible to everyone.
2. Who Benefits from Our Tools
PDFSplitOrMerge is engineered for professionals, students, researchers, small business owners, and anyone who values their privacy:
Students & Academics
Assemble multiple research papers, lecture notes, or project appendices into a single indexed PDF.
Finance & Legal Teams
Extract specific exhibits or agreements without exposing sensitive financial records to cloud storage.
Small Businesses & Freelancers
Quickly merge receipts with client invoices and produce clean deliverables without buying expensive PDF suites.
3. How Our PDF Processing Engines Work
Our application incorporates pure JavaScript and WebAssembly PDF engines that parse, manipulate, and rebuild genuine Adobe PDF document object trees:
Merge PDF Tool
You select or drag-and-drop two or more files. The engine inspects the page count of each document, preserves your chosen ordering, and copies original page streams into a new combined PDF without rasterizing text or losing vector clarity.
Split PDF Tool
You provide a multi-page PDF and choose your workflow: extract selective pages (e.g., 1-3, 5), explode every page into individual single-page documents, or partition custom page ranges. When multiple files are created, our engine bundles them into an instant ZIP archive.
4. What Happens to Your Documents
When you use our tools in modern browsers, processing occurs locally within your computer or mobile device's memory. We do not store your files on a remote hard drive, we do not index your document text, and we do not build advertising profiles from your reading habits.
Because data remains in local memory, closing your browser tab or clicking "Reset" instantly releases the document buffers. Review our comprehensive Privacy Policy for full details on our zero-retention architecture.
5. Technical Limitations & Usability Goals
To ensure reliable performance across both high-powered workstations and mobile smartphones, we maintain clear and transparent operational limits:
- File Size Cap: Maximum of 25 MB per individual PDF file.
- Merge Capacity: Up to 20 files per merge session (maximum 100 MB aggregate).
- Encrypted PDFs: Password-protected or cryptographically encrypted files cannot be processed until the owner removes the password restriction.
- Accessibility Standards: All controls feature visible keyboard focus states, semantic labels, screen reader text, and high-contrast color tokens in both light and dark modes.
If you need assistance with how specific tools function, consult our How It Works guide and our FAQ.
